European CCS Infrastructure Attracts £500 Million in New Financing

July 17, 2026 2 min read

Eni CCUS Holding has secured more than £500 million in financing from an international banking consortium, including Intesa Sanpaolo, to support the expansion of its carbon capture and storage (CCS) portfolio in Europe.

The funding will accelerate the development of strategic CO₂ storage infrastructure in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, reinforcing continued investment in large-scale carbon management projects.

Financing Supports Key European CCS Hubs

The financing will support two major projects within Eni CCUS Holding’s portfolio: L10-CCS, Netherlands

The offshore L10-CCS project is being developed as a CO₂ storage hub in the Dutch North Sea, providing storage capacity for industrial emissions from Northwest Europe.

Bacton CCS, United Kingdom

The Bacton CCS project aims to develop CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure that can serve industrial emitters across South East England while supporting future cross-border carbon management.

Executive Takeaway

The transaction highlights a broader trend in the European CCS market. Capital is increasingly being directed toward shared transport and storage infrastructure, reflecting growing confidence in projects with long-term commercial and industrial demand.

For project developers, industrial emitters, and infrastructure investors, access to financing is becoming a key factor in scaling carbon capture and storage alongside technology deployment.
